Baby Miles | Urbana birth photographer

Editor's Note: The following images are completely safe for work :)I had the very distinct honor of photographing the birth of baby Miles on May 19 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. This was the first non-family birth I'd photographed, and while I consider Miles' mommy Emily a friend, I think it's safe to say I wouldn't have normally been in the room. :) Emily's sister Jenna photographed the birth of Emily + William's first two children, but was able to be in Illinois this time around, so Emily asked me. It was a very exciting day -- I had kept my schedule for the week as open as possible, but babies do what they want, and Emily started contracting two days before her due date. I had been keeping my phone ringer on every night for two weeks just in case! At about 6:50 a.m. Monday morning, Emily called and said she was having contractions and thought this was it. Luckily, one session I had got cancelled, I was able to make it to my 11:30 meeting, and then rescheduled one other meeting, and was able to sit at the hospital for the rest of the afternoon. Miles made his entrance into this world a very different one from the way his mama imagined it, but as Emily put it, "He wanted his own birth story." And that's what he got! Welcome, baby Miles. :)

(Note: I am available for birth photography on a limited basis -- the months of October-April are easier for me to schedule them due to my busy summer wedding season. I do LOVE doing them though, so if you're interested in me capturing your birth story, please inquire for prices. If you'd like to see a more detailed set of images than what I've shown on the blog, please ask!)
