Rachel + Torey | Hudson Farms wedding in rural Urbana

Emily from Mager Image Photography brought me on as a second shooter for Rachel + Torey's wedding at Hudson Farms in Urbana in late August. My day started out at the hotel where the guys got ready before heading out to the farm. After picking up bits and pieces from their conversations about small-town life, I asked where they were from, and it turns out I had some friends they went to high school with in northern Illinois. Small world! Once we got to the farm, I jumped right into photographing the details that Rachel and her family had worked so hard at -- there were a ton of custom, rustic signs, Mason jar centerpieces with soybeans, burlap runners and farm artifacts that I loved capturing. Hudson Farms is a great little quaint farm wedding venue if you're looking for something with a country feel for your wedding. I recommend checking it out! rura wedding signs

Engelbrecht Farms | Paxton barn wedding reception venue

A couple months ago, I heard from a friend about the Engelbrecht Farms wedding reception venue that was to be opening soon near Paxton, IL. People have asked me for years if I knew of any local barns where they could hold weddings, and until recently I didn’t know of any. So, as you can imagine, I was ecstatic to hear about this one! I contacted the staff right away to see if I could come tour the facility and get some photos. The barn reminds me so much of the old barn I grew up with, raising my show cattle and baling hay in the summers. The space has so much potential and would look amazing with café or Christmas lights and linens in your wedding colors. There’s ample parking too, and it’s not too far off Interstate 57 at the Paxton exit. I made it there from the center of the UI campus in about 35 minutes – not bad at all! Thanks to Courtney for showing me around the place, and to Chris and his family for opening up this great reception space! I look forward to photographing a wedding there soon! barn wedding with balcony

Jill + Joel | Crescent City + Gilman rural wedding

I had a fantastic time on Saturday with Jill, Joel and their entire wedding party. This group was so fun, and made me feel like part of the group from the first minute I was there. #clutchforever Ha! I about died when I saw Jill's amazing bouquet. She is seriously a girl after my own heart with those colors! The blue lace bridesmaid dresses were a unique touch as well -- I would totally wear that again if I was a bridesmaid! Jill + Joel and crew were super laid back, and they were game for anything, even when I made them get out of the limo a couple extra times, including once along the side of a random back road. Joel's family's machine shed was transformed into an amazing wedding venue, and the place looked fabulous. And -- be still my heart -- insulated "Solo" cups as favors. Such an awesome (and practical?) touch! Leave a comment below for Jill + Joel, and after 50 comments, they'll receive a complimentary 11x14" mounted print of their choice.
