Brittany + Brian | Mason City + Northfield Center, Springfield, IL

HBP_8204.jpg

I loved the super colorful theme from Brittany & Brian's wedding on July 26. We didn't have a ton of time or great locations close to the church for portraits, so Brittany and I decided before the wedding, that we would do some of them in the middle of Main St. My hometown of Mason City doesn't have a ton of through traffic, so we only had to dodge a few cars! Brittany had a bunch of fun ideas to incorporate throughout the day, a couple of which included a blindfold, much to Brian's dismay. They made for some funny photos though! The Northfield Center was decked out beautifully as well, and it was my first time photographing with LED uplights. They were AWESOME! I love that the colors changed throughout the dancing portion of the evening. I think they had an extra level of interest to the reception photos. Leave a comment below for Brittany and Brian, and after 50 comments, they'll receive a complimentary 11x14" print of their choice.

Ryan + Courtnie | Allerton Mansion Wedding | Monticello, Piatt County

HBP_4481.jpg

Saturday morning I woke up in the early morning to sound of a hard, driving rain on my roof. I love sleeping when it's raining, so I went back to sleep not thinking too much of it. Every so often I would wake up again and think "that sounds like a LOT of rain." My sump pump was running like crazy. So I started to get nervous. Just before I was about to get out of bed, my phone started buzzing, and I jumped up and freaked out, thinking immediately that it was Courtnie calling to tell me there was a wedding emergency. Turns out it was the emergency alert, telling me there was a flash flood warning for the Mahomet area (and I'm pretty sure Piatt County was included in that). So then I was SUPER nervous. It turns out that most of the grounds at Allerton Park didn't flood too bad, and despite a bit of soggy ground, we were able to get outside still to do most of the images we wanted. Courtnie and Ryan were cool as a cucumbers through it all, and the wedding was amazing. Here are some of my favorite images -- I hope you enjoy them as well! Sarah + Ted | Allerton Park + Mansion wedding | Monticello, IL

What a lovely wedding Sarah + Ted and their families planned! The gray and pink color scheme played out beautifully in the suits, bridesmaid dresses and bouquets. I don't think I've photographed that color combination too much, and I was very excited to put together their wedding party photo using those elements. The day came together fairly seamlessly (shout out to DJ Panda for his emergency DJ'ing!) and we came away with some beautiful images of a fun and memorable wedding day. Congrats, Sarah + Ted, and thanks for letting me drag you outside a few extra times with the mosquitoes (I still have several bug bites to prove it!!).
