Kaitlin + Tom | Champaign Hilton Garden Inn wedding

In December I had the privilege of second shooting a wedding with my good friend Emily from Mager Image Photography.  Some of you may remember Emily as she has been a second photographer for many of the weddings I have photographed.  We make a great team! :) We met up at St. John's Catholic Church and Newman Center to capture the wedding day of Kaitlin & Tom.  It was a cold, cold day and the roads were pretty icy, but we made the most of it and the bride, groom, and wedding party were such troopers in the cold!  Following the ceremony, we headed to downtown Champaign for some pictures out with the Christmas lights and the frosty trees and ice-covered grass.  The evening was kind of hazy and glowing with all the street lamps and Christmas lights.  Then we were able to get into the ballroom at the Hilton early ahead of the guests to grab some photos of the beautifully decorated tables with a red and gold holiday theme.  It was a lovely evening filled with wonderful people!

Maria + David | St. John's + Refinery wedding | Champaign

Maria + David were surrounded by a great group of friends at their wedding on Saturday. Their wedding party were all such easy-going good sports, and they made our jobs so fun and easy. The Refinery was beautifully decorated with floor to ceiling drapery, champagne uplighting and gold chiavari chairs. I loved their long head table down the center of the room -- very unexpected and neat, plus great for photographers! I was present for the entire reception, so there are a bunch of dancing photos included below. I had such a great time photographing the dancers all night! And Matt from Elite Entertainment did an amazing job of keeping the dance floor going all night. The only thing I would have changed would have been the rain at the end of the night that put a slight damper on the sparkler sendoff, but still fun nonetheless! Meryl + Scott | Champaign Hilton Garden Inn Wedding

Meryl + Scott married at St. John's Catholic Chapel in the heart of the University of Illinois campus. They chose a great purple color that they carried throughout all the details of the wedding that made for a beautiful wedding and reception. I LOVED Meryl's cathedral length, mantilla-style veil. It framed her beautiful face so well. Pair that with her stunning eyes and a great spot of light we found just outside the church, and you have one of my new all-time favorite bridal portraits! Scott cleans up well himself, and we got a striking portrait of him near that same spot as well. My last task of the evening was to photograph their choreographed (and very practiced, I imagine!) first dance as husband and wife. Meryl + Scott gracefully floated all of the dance floor, and I have to give credit to a guest who had his Nikon speedlight set to slave and gave me a nice burst of extra light throughout that dance. :) Here are some of my favorites! Leave Meryl + Scott a comment below, and after 50 comments, they will receive a complimentary 10x15" mounted print of their choice!
