Jill + Jeff were married on the golf course at the Urbana Country Club under a beautiful sunny sky. Their four daughters stood up with them and were in charge of the rings. I was only with them for an hour, but in that short time I got to see them loved on by their families and friends, with a few happy tears thrown in for good measure. :) I especially loved the part of the ceremony where the officiant had them turn around and look at all their guests and imagine all their love and thankfulness for each person in attendance. It was an honor to be a witness to their new union!
Sometimes as a wedding photographer there are days where things don't go as planned, weather doesn't cooperate and you just have to roll with the punches. Saturday was one of those days as it was the coldest day we've had so far this fall with major wind gusts. So we came up with an alternate plan and ended up doing most of Jackie + Matt's photos indoors at the Urbana Country Club and Barrelhouse 34 who graciously opened their business for us a bit early! We still had a blast though, and I am in love with the window light photos we got at the bar! It's fun being a problem solver sometimes!! :) After Barrelhouse, we also hit up Bunny's Tavern, one of Matt's favorite watering holes. Then it was off to the ceremony and back to the country club for the reception. As an Illini fan, I adored their navy and orange theme (though they didn't choose those colors for their Illini or Bears fandom necessarily!) and had fun incorporating the colors into their ring photos and other detail shots. Jackie + Matt, we had a blast with you Saturday and I wish you both many, many years of happiness together! We definitely need to hit up the Barrelhouse again soon!! What a day we had Saturday! I started out with the ladies at Kelly's family's home in Champaign, while my second photographer Libby met the guys at the Hyatt Place in downtown. Everyone was mostly relaxed, while Kelly added a bit of finishing touches to her vows. Once everyone was ready, we headed to the church where we finished as many portraits as we could without the bride and groom seeing each other beforehand. The ceremony was beautiful and heartfelt, and I loved the moments where Brian + Kelly's caught each other's eyes, and when Kelly had to look to the sky during her vows to keep from crying -- so, so sweet! Following an exuberant bubble exit, the wedding party was whisked to the Urbana Country Club by a yellow school bus -- fitting since Kelly is a teacher! We spent some, let's say "warm" time on the golf course and then into the comfort and style of the newly renovated Urbana Country Club for the reception. I loved Kelly + Brian's first dance (despite her train getting in the way a few times!), and the way they moved effortlessly around the room greeting all of their guests. I was able to sneak them outside a couple times later in the evening for a couple sunset shots and fun with colored flash gels. Congrats, Kelly + Brian!
