West Side Park

Jenn + Joe | Neighborhood engagement session in downtown Champaign

Jenn + Joe are a super sweet couple that fit together so perfectly. Just from the short amount of time I've spent with them at their wedding consultation and now at their engagement session, I can see that they complement each other so well. We had an absolutely perfect evening to do their session before this oppressive heat hit, and with a mild breeze.  Jenn + Joe live near downtown Champaign, so we decided on the first half of their session in the downtown district with brick walls and such, and then we headed over to West Side Park for the 2nd half.  West Side Park is within walking distance to their place, so they pass through it often.  The locations added a certain personal touch to the session, which I think adds so much meaning to the images.  I'm looking forward to their wedding in July!  Stay tuned for that blog post!

Meredith + Scott | Downtown Champaign + West Side Park engagement

I had such a fun time hanging out with these two a couple weeks ago for their engagement session! Scott is super sweet and funny and adores Meredith. Meredith has an infectious laugh and a great smile and is just cool to hang out with! We started out their session in downtown Champaign to get an urban feel, followed by West Side Park for some more nature, and finished up in Meredith's mom's backyard garden which is am AMAZING little oasis. I can't imagine all the effort she puts into her garden! I can't wait for their wedding next summer -- it's going to be awesome! happy couple with white distressed brick wall

Chris + Logan | Surprise proposal engagement photographer

A few weeks ago I got the pleasure of photographing and helping to organize a surprise wedding proposal in Champaign. The groom-to-be Chris contacted me about secretly capturing some photos while he popped the question to his girlfriend Logan. He was still working out some details at the time, and the weather looked to be a factor also. In the end, he decided to do a picnic lunch so earlier that day, I met him in a Walgreen's parking lot to get the picnic basket from him. A couple hours later, I put the basket in place under the gazebo in West Side Park and waited. Did I mention that it was drizzling rain the ENTIRE TIME?! LOL! Luckily I had planned ahead and had a couple blankets and plastic bags in the car to protect my camera, and I wore a thick rain jacket with a hood to try to keep myself dry. My biggest obstacle was getting close enough to the gazebo, but far enough away where I knew Logan wouldn't see me. I found a tree that was wide enough, but every time I leaned out around to snap a few, I swore she could see me! Chris told me later on though that she had no idea I was there!! She did say yes, and even though I have no idea what specifically was said, I think these pictures tell their story. :) Enjoy!! surprise engagement proposal photo
