Lindsay + Bryan | Cog Hill Golf + Country Club Wedding in Lemont

Lindsay + Bryan hosted a beautiful wedding at the lovely Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont. I mentioned this in my sneak peek on Facebook, but the day from start to end was definitely an emotional one! After both the bride and groom got ready, it was time for Lindsay’s first look with her dad, and that was when the tears started flowing. Then the bride and groom saw each other for the first time, and while it was mostly a sweet and exciting moment, a couple of happy tears were shed then too.

After a short ride from the hotel to Cog Hill, we jumped right into portraits with the bridesmaids and groomsmen and whole wedding party. The two flower girls and ring bearer were the cutest and were so well behaved all day — I have so many great photos of all 3 of them! The day was absolutely gorgeous, and I didn’t have any trouble picking spots with great lighting! The temperature was perfect and I wish all wedding days could be like that — warm in the sun, and cool in the shade with a light breeze. Perfection!

Guests started arriving then, which meant it was nearly time for the ceremony! This venue — SO pretty! I LOVED the wooden beams on the ceiling and how they created so much drama in my ceremony photos. I added just a touch of off-camera flash to light up the bride and groom perfectly, and this ballroom did the rest. And there were more tears, of course! The officiant spoke about loved ones gone too soon, and then also shared some vows from Lindsay + Bryan to baby Liam who is coming at the end of June! That didn’t leave mean dry eyes in the house for sure. :)

During cocktail hour, we took a golf cart out to the Cog Hill barn which is an homage to the farm that originally sat on the land that is now the golf course. We finished up portraits in the hundreds of tulips that surrounded the clubhouse. A funny moment I won’t soon forget was the cake cutting when Lindsay fed Bryan his bite of cake, and then he proceeded to keep feeding himself the cake instead of feeding her! We rounded out the night with the bride and groom’s first dance, parent dances, toasts, and then danced until they shut the place down!

Lindsay + Bryan — I am so happy for you both and can’t wait to meet baby Liam!! Thank you so much for letting me photograph your day!

Amber + David | Champaign Country Club wedding | Champaign

Years ago I spoke about my degree in agricultural communications and my career in photography to my former professor Bob Siebrecht's class on the UI campus. I think it was Intro to ACES or something along those lines, and one of the students sitting in the classroom that day was none other than Amber. She'd already been dating David for a while (they are high school sweethearts!), and I think she pretty well decided that day that I would be her wedding photographer someday. Thinking back on that day, I am so grateful to Bob for asking me to speak to his classes a few times while he was still teaching, and have to think that he was smiling down on us Saturday, probably with a scotch in hand. Now, back to Amber + David :) these two were the BEST to work with! They were so relaxed all day, and super accommodating to me, even though they were the clients!! Amber asked me several times throughout the day if I needed anything, and these two along with their wedding party followed my directions so well that we actually finished the portrait portion of the day in record time! We had ample time for portraits of the couple, so you'll see a lot of those below. A few of my favorite parts of the day included the golf cart "grand prix" through the Champaign Country Club grounds, Amber taking a photo of ME on the golf cart (you can find it on my IG or FB), and the impromptu limbo contest on the dance floor using arms as the bar! LOL! It's always a pleasure working at the CCC, and I love the portraits we got inside the building in the front hallway and my new favorite place in all of Champaign -- the back formal dining room. Congrats to you both -- I wish you ever happiness!

Kelly + Brian | Urbana Country Club wedding

HB3_6782.jpg

What a day we had Saturday! I started out with the ladies at Kelly's family's home in Champaign, while my second photographer Libby met the guys at the Hyatt Place in downtown. Everyone was mostly relaxed, while Kelly added a bit of finishing touches to her vows. Once everyone was ready, we headed to the church where we finished as many portraits as we could without the bride and groom seeing each other beforehand. The ceremony was beautiful and heartfelt, and I loved the moments where Brian + Kelly's caught each other's eyes, and when Kelly had to look to the sky during her vows to keep from crying -- so, so sweet! Following an exuberant bubble exit, the wedding party was whisked to the Urbana Country Club by a yellow school bus -- fitting since Kelly is a teacher! We spent some, let's say "warm" time on the golf course and then into the comfort and style of the newly renovated Urbana Country Club for the reception. I loved Kelly + Brian's first dance (despite her train getting in the way a few times!), and the way they moved effortlessly around the room greeting all of their guests. I was able to sneak them outside a couple times later in the evening for a couple sunset shots and fun with colored flash gels. Congrats, Kelly + Brian! Leave a comment below for Kelly + Brian, and after 50 comments, they'll receive a complimentary 11x14" mounted print of their choice. :)
