Justine + Grant | Urbana courthouse elopement

It was just the two of them. Sweet and simple — just the way they wanted it. They chose to not invite any family or friends (though they knew about it!), and are instead sharing my photos with them after the fact. Justine + Grant had the only wedding at the courthouse on Monday, so we had the 3rd floor hallway pretty much to ourselves. We did a few portraits while we waiting for the bailiff to call us in, and then asked them to pretend I wasn’t there while I snapped some candids. We were then called in to the courtroom, and Judge Heidi Ladd performed the quick ceremony. There were still a few minutes left in our session time, so they hopped on the elevator for one of my signature elevator shots, one quick photo with the Champaign County seal, and then on to the beautiful outside of the courthouse where we finished up with some more portraits and action shots. I always love a good dancing twirl photo! <3

Mary Beth + Peter | County courthouse wedding

Mary Beth + Peter called me just a few days ahead of their Wednesday wedding at the courthouse to see if I would be available that day. I made sure the hubby could pick up my 4-year-old from preschool that day and we were all set! Peter is from across the pond, and I didn’t get the to hear the story of how they met or their love story, but I got the impression that it is a doozy! They got their wedding bands from my good friends Kari & Andrea at Champaign Jewelers (shameless plug — they were on my podcast last week!), so I had to snap a photo of their ring boxes. It was a love-filled, emotionally charged hour spent at the courthouse, and I am so happy these two found each other and that I was there to witness their union. Congrats, Mary Beth + Peter!!

Jenny + Josh | Weekday wedding at the Japan House

Jenny + Josh contemplated a courthouse wedding but decided they really wanted their dogs to be involved, so they chose a different route!  They got my friend Austin Beaty to officiate and headed out to the Japan House/Arboretum area in Urbana instead and were able to have a few close friends and family, plus their two pups along with them.  After some quick nuptials, we wandered around the grounds for some group photos and portraits.  It was a very warm, super sunny day, so I had to get one of my signature blue sky images for them!
