A New Spin on the Lobster | Brand + Logo Refresh

It’s here!! This brand refresh has been a labor of love and about a year in the making. Once I decided in 2022 that 2023 would be my final year of weddings, I knew that my brand and logo needed an update.

I worked with Hagan Design Co (Mike Hagan) and it was a great experience! We met in person a couple of times to hash out the details and make sure he had a good grasp of what I was going for. I had a mood board and a Pinterest board going, including my preferred colors, fonts, and overall feel.

Keeping the lobster in some form was really important to me. Mike created a few great iterations for me, but ultimately I feel that the abstract claw spoke the most to me and also really spoke “commercial/brand” to me. I thought it looked the most professional and sleek to me.

Versatility was also key to my new logo. I told Mike up front that I wanted the logo to “look cute on a shirt,” but also work in various formats — stacked, stretched out long, wordmark, and as a standalone logo (think favicon, profile pics, etc). And I think it does all those things!

As far as usage goes, of course my brand needs to stretch across all my social media and my website. But I also use it often as a watermark and within my CRM (invoices, contracts, questionnaires, etc). I recently had a new name badge with magnet made, and am in the process of having shirts printed as well — a polo shirt for professional needs, but also a couple of tshirts and hoodies. Because ya girl loves her casual tee/hoodie/jeans combo.

I’m also planning to have some stickers made soon too. I love collecting stickers for my water bottle! A few other ways that I may use my logo and brand in the future would be signage (think trade show banners), merch (coffee mugs, tshirts, USB drives, totes, etc), and printed materials (thank you cards, sticky notes, return address labels/rubber stamp, and wax seals).

Thank you for going along on this journey with me! I’m so excited for this new chapter of Holly Birch Photography LLC!
