New photography studio in downtown Champaign

You read it right!

I’ve opened a studio in the historic Lincoln Building at 44 E. Main in downtown Champaign! My space is on the 5th floor, Suite 517.

I had been casually looking for a space for a while and had even looked in a couple spaces in this building about a year ago. This space checked nearly all the boxes for me though:

☑️ White walls, white ceiling, & white trim

☑️ North-facing windows (all the realtors thought I was crazy!) ;)

☑️ Wood floors were a bonus (most of the building has concrete floors)

☑️ Some storage space

☑️ GREAT location! The blocks surrounding the building are some of my most photo favorite spots in Champaign!

Here’s a look at the before when the space was totally empty the day before I started moving my stuff in.

I haven’t had to do much to the space other than some cleaning and carrying up props and furniture. Some stuff I already had and some is new.

New items include the desks, shelves, a tree, a stool, an end table, and some of the plants. The wooden chair is a used item from Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, which I love checking out for instances just like this!

Then there is a list of items I’m still working on or on the hunt for: a padded desk chair with arms, a loveseat (I have one from my old studio, but it needs a new cover), a white flooring option, a microwave, and possibly a couple of new seamless papers. I’d really like a navy seamless, and then something like a light beige (but darker than the cream walls).

So now here’s a look at the studio with different vignettes set up in the different areas:

And as always, I encourage and welcome any of your own props for personal brand sessions. I also plan to use the space for product photography and stock photography. So even if you’re not local to Champaign, you can ship your products to me and I can photograph them on a white or styled background!
