Moderation Maven | Personal Brand Photography Part 2

Welcome to Part 2 of my friend Leia’s session for her business, Moderation Maven Nutrition! We did the first part back in February when it was still very chilly, so we waited until summer to do the second part outdoors. Leia’s main request was that most people associate the color green with nutrition, so she wanted her headshots to be with a different color. She mentioned something warm-toned, so I thought on it a bit and we both loved the idea of this coral/pink wall. It was perfect!

Part of the Moderation Maven’s mission is to dissaude common myths about food, agriculture, and dieting, so we tied part of that in with the diet magazine she picked up that morning.

For the next section, we went right around the corner to a sidewalk where we did some exercise/stretching/running photos. I love the aviators and the bright green shirt she chose from the Illinois Marathon.

Lastly, we met up at a popular meeting/restaurant space where she grabbed a juice and chatted with a client about reading labels and what to look for when choosing foods and beverages.

Breakfast, Life & Dinner | Confidence in the Kitchen

I met my friend Adam a couple years ago at a networking event where I was doing free headshots. We bumped into each other a couple times after that and have built a great working relationship. Adam is the owner of Breakfast, Life & Dinner where he teaches “confidence in the kitchen.” He offers cooking classes for kids through adults, and also does meal planning and prep. He can come to your house and create a full week’s worth of dinners, lunches, snacks, and fresh bread, AND he will leave your kitchen cleaner than he found it! (I speak from experience because following our 2nd food shoot, he cleaned my stovetop better than I ever did!)

Our first shoot took place at the James Room demo kitchen in the Phillips Recreation Center in Urbana. We quickly figured out that we’d need more time than that first morning, so we planned to do a 2nd day a couple weeks later in my family’s kitchen. In exchange for my photos, Adam made some food for my family, including a special treat of stuffed lobster tails for my husband and me — a little nod to my business logo (and possibly slight obsession). ;)

Adam is very good at balancing meals, and making sure there is always something green. In addition to this being good for you, it also makes for great, colorful, mouth-watering images! I really enjoyed our collaboration, and we will be sad to see him move to Austin, Texas in a few weeks. You will be sorely missed in our creative and cooking communities, Adam! Best of luck with your upcoming move and business transition! ATX will be luck to have you. <3

Heaven's Storm Photography | Personal Brand Photo Session

With the impact of social media on businesses these days, it’s so important for business owners to have quality content to use to promote themselves and their work. That’s where the niche of Personal Brand Photography comes in! We walk together through the process of creating images that help tell your story. I often meet with clients for ahead of time to talk through what you want and need from the session, and I have a comprehensive questionnaire that helps me know what to shoot, where to shoot, and what to have you bring and wear. I also have a formula that I use to determine how many photos of various things to get — photos of you, detail shots, products shots, etc.

My friend Sarah of Heaven’s Storm Photography was my latest personal brand client, and she is a fellow photographer based out of Decatur. Her website and brand include lots of light and airy images and a color palette of pink, green, and white. Her favorite things include dancing, the color pink, Pepsi, her camera, cupcakes, and her family. We worked hard to incorporate all those things, and I can’t wait to see how she uses her final images in her online presence!
